Only the coinage issued 1) officially 2) by the imperial mints has been included. This corpus excludes coins fraudulently circulated by the mint of Rome under the reign of Claudius Gothicus and Quintillus, the non-official coins of the series of consecration Divo Claudio and the imitation coinage (the radiate imitations produced locally in the western provinces of the Empire).

The rebel Gallic Empire uses its own mints and is not included in our field of study. The case of the Palmyrene dynasty is different: this corpus integrates the coins of Vabalathus and Zenobia produced in the imperial mint of Antioch during the reign of Aurelian.
